Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors (TPMS) on LCI X5s (2010+)

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone knows exactly which TPM Sensors I need. I am going to be swapping out my OEM 18" wheels on the 2011 35d with a set of 20" wheels. I don't want the annoying light coming up and I really do not want to take the TPMS out of my stock wheels because I plan on putting them back on for the winter. After doing a quick search it seems like I need the BERU RDE-012 Sensors with RDV-001 Valves. They are supposed to be the same ones off of any BMW/Mini 2010+.

I found these two part numbers:
36146792829 Screw-In Valve
36106790054 Sensor 433MHz

Can anyone confirm for me? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Suggest you see your dealer and have them look it up specific to your serial number. www.realoem.com shows multiple part numbers for valves and sensors, depending on production date and geography.

Hey guys, spoke to the dealer today and then to BavarianX. The dealer confirmed for me that the part numbers above were correct. Was quoted at the dealer $46 for the valves and $278 for the TPMS.

Spoke to the great guys over at BavarianX and they explained that all BMWs with production dates after 10/2010 to date all are using the newer TPMS. Cross-referenced with REALOEM.com. Went back to their website and purchased them for $229, shipping was an additional $10 to New York. They sell the same exact sensors, they are just labeled with the BERU (manufacturer) numbers instead of the BMW stuff. Very happy, thank you BavarianX! BTW, did you go to dealer for installing new sensers and reprogramming? Did they ask too much?

TheBMW528i the sensors are basically just valve stems with an extra piece that sits on the rim. I just had the new sensors installed at the wheel shop who mounted the tires on my rims, and then mounted the wheels to the car. The dealer is not needed to install the sensors nor is reprogramming necessary. Installing new sensors is very simple. Once the wheels are installed to your car you can just clear the TPMS warning on your iDrive. Super simple. Once you click to rest the TPMS you just drive off, eventually the yellow warning lights on the wheels on your iDrive turn green and you are good to go. (The exact process is outlined in your User's Manual) :thumbup:

Thought ez-sensor would make E70 TPMS setup easier, http://www.ez-sensor.com/index.html , they are talking about programmable.

Looks like it's not that complicated, BMW will pick up new sensors by itself, just wonder how the system knows tire's position, which is which. I got a winter set of 18'' wheels on the way, will order sensors and try it this way. Thank you for the info XCUSM5.:iagree:

A reminder for SNOW tires, to think about TPMS's too....
To save anybody out there looking at Snow tires with a new set of rims (SWAPPING set of rim/tires summer for winter etc.) , don't forget to bookmark this post, it can save you a lot of time and headache (If you have a post 10/2010 X5 build date).
Somehow I missed this post. It has the correct Part Numbers for the newer vehicles TPMS's.

Irony was I had my old set of tires in the trunk/boot when I did my winter swap, so when I drove home the first time the X5 still communicated with the old "correct" TPMS's.... ; )
