4X4! xDrive Malfunction
 

Hi guys. I was driving home today and got the following malfunction show up on the screen:

"4X4! xDrive malfunction. Limited chassis stabilization and traction. Drive moderately. Have the system checked by the nearest BMW center."

Have any of you come across this? The nearest dealer is two hours away.

You need to have the codes read to determine the problem. If you don't have a dealer close by, an independent with the appropriate tooling may be able to do it.

Could be a wheel speed sensor, or something in the transfer case. There are a long list of possibilities, so getting the codes is the first step.
