SOS Audio problem!

Hello,

i was driving on a highway today and my audio system went off, the screen showed the same BMW, just like when the car starts and after that it went completly blank, on the speedo where the info is displayed it sayd SOS and the steering wheel acted a little wierd.

After couple of minutes everything went back to normal and then same story over and over again untill i got home, when it got dark i turned on the car, and i noticed that the volume button together with the area where the mp3 or dvd cd goes in above the numbers was not light up, even the numbers 1 through 6 where not light up on the dash.

Anyone has any idea why this is?

Many possibilities from a loose wire to a failure of the control unit. Only way to know is have the dealer look at it. There may be fault codes that have been registered.

Fault or failure in the TCU. Telematics control unit used for BMW assist and Bluetooth. Connected on the same bus as your other audio components, thus causing you too loose sound/idrive ... Basically the system restarted itself.

If it keeps happening ask your dealer to check your TCU part number. In some cases TCUs needed to be replaced or reflashed.

X is at the dealership, they are going to change the TCU unit. Will see how that works.
