Just ordered my 2011 X5 35d!
Hi all,
I'm new to the board and figured what better way to get started than an introduction. I just sold my E39 M5 and am selling my B5.5 TDI Passat Variant, so I decided it was time for an upgrade. I am looking for some insight as to what I ought to request/demand from the stealership. I put my order in already for: 2011 X5 35d Sparkling Bronze Oyster Nevada leather Dark Bamboo wood Premium package Premium sound Technology package Sports Activity Package Cold weather package Trailer hitch all weather mats all around DRLs disabled roof rails no drilling for plate/stickers I also ordered and received my pet partition from England. They say it fits all E70s from 2007-2010 so I do not see any reason why it would not fit my '11 What recommendations do you folks have? |
COPNGRATS! I had the Oyster leather, and it is awesome! Bamboo looks great with oyster, and while the more tradt'l. walnut woods are beautiful, the bamboo for sure adds a modern, clean touch to the cabin.
Have to ask...WHY disable the DRLs? People are almost clawing each others eyes out for LED corona rings! Also, DRLs are turned on and off via iDrive. So, how did you order a 35d with disabled DRLs?? Isn't that like saying you ordered a car, and want to make sure the A/C or radio is turned off?? :) |
Thanks for the insight on the oyster! I am both excited and a little concerned about having such a light colored interior. On one hand I believe that it looks a bit classier, but I have only had greys and blacks for interiors before and hope that I can keep it clean.
I want DRLs to be disabled for a few reasons. One, I do not favor constant power consumption from any device; I like control. Two, I work in locations where there are multiple security checkpoints and it is a common courtesy to dim lights when approaching said checkpoints. If the DRLs can be turned off via the iDrive, then that is my solution. I haven't heard back from the SR regarding my DRL request. My X5 was ordered last Friday. |

The oyster interior is amazing looking, that has the black carpets still, correct? i love the contrast |

Awesome. The SR replied and advised me of the same. I appreciate it! I believe that I will have a lot of fun with the iDrive.
@xoutpostking - Yes, this is one of my online names that I prefer. Sometimes the various forums they deny use me of my name and I am forced to use my alternate which is less vulgar, but also far less original. PFK is a deviation from the old school rapper Ghost Face Killah. About 15 or so years ago, I shouted to one of my friends 'Hey Poop Face Killah!' and it stuck. Good times. |
I desperately wanted Sparkling Bronze but with the Tobacco leather. It's near to the Truffle brown I had in my 2004 and it still looked so great after 7 years when I finally sold it.
I ended up with Space Grey and black interior, was forced to buy off the lot - it's OK...and had choice between black and Oyster (and Oyster does have the black carpets, etc). I flew to get my car in Colorado Springs and was picked up in the airport in a dealer loaner with Oyster and only 3,000 miles on it and it looked pretty but was soiled. I'm wondering (out loud) how much work it'd be to keep Oyster clean. Because of my outdoor activities (snow skiing, boating/water skiing) I was too leery of going with anything light on the interior. But sure does look impressive in person. Make sure you check out BMW Apps and any phone integration options before hand. I didn't do my homework and paid for it. Also the spare tire if you have intentions of removing the run flats. Congrats, the x35d is a great car! |
