door unlock
can someone please let me know how to unlock all doors after the engine is turned off? I was able to do it with my 5 series, but cant figure out how to do it for the x5.

The unlock button is located in the center console by the emergency light button... Or you can RTFM. :)

There is a setting in iDrive to have the unlock button unlock just the driver door or all doors.

that didnt work. Mine has been on all doors. but what i want is for the car to unlock all doors as soon as i turn off the engine. It does it for my 5 series but havent been able to do it for the x5

This actually has to be coded and is not part of your standard options that a dealer can help you with. Some forum members may be willing to help you out.
Usually it occurs when you put the car in Park and not necessarily turn off the engine. Either way, it's a pain and I wish it was an option in iDrive. I have never developed the habit of hitting the Unlock button on the dashboard and it's always when I'm trying to open the rear doors that I remember. |
Mine as coded so that whenever I hold down the engine on/off button for 1.5 seconds to turn the engine off, the key would come out and all 4 doors would unlock.
As mentioned above, you will need to have your car reprogrammed. Wuzin, a board member on here, was able to meet me locally and help me get my car coded with this and a number of other nice little features. |
Oh, to find someone in NYC area that can code this for my X5
