Execuhitch installed on my 2011 X5 xDrive50i M Sport

The just officially released their hitch for the M Sport bumpers. It's the same hitch as the other X5 hitch they offer but I guess they had to adjust a mounting point to work with the M Sport bumper. I believe this is the 2nd one sold so far by them, the first being the X5 M Sport that they used to test fit. I received this about a week ago. Finally decided to tackle the install this afternoon. I'm very happy with it. I had them set it up with a 5 pin wiring harness so that it would accomodate the wiring for my boat trailer. The instructions were pretty thorough but there were a few minor errors. No big deal. The instructions tell you to discard the bumper core support and not reuse. I was able (pretty easily, I may add) to retain it without any problems. Glad I did. I wasn't thrilled about not having it there. Anyways, I had to cut the bottom of the bumper 7" wide by 3.5" deep. Without the Gooseneck installed you cannot tell there is a hitch installed unless you get on your hands and knees and look up under the bumper. The electronic locking feature is pretty slick. There's no play in the receiver at all. I purchased the 2" ball receiver and the bike carrier adapter. This is well worth the money in my opinion. Sorry, I didn't take many pics during the install, but a couple after the hitch was actually mounted before the bumper went back on. I'll add a couple with nothing plugged into it and with the 2" ball and the bike carrier adapter tomorrow...

Nice. I went with a European hitch myself as I just could not bear to cut the bumper. This is the way to go.

How did you handle the PDC? Did you get it programmed/coded? If so, does it work properly to disable the PDC when the trailer is connected?

Is there an OEM hitch solution that doesn't require cutting the bumper or Execuhitch is pretty much he only way to go? How do you like your Execuhitch? Is it stable? If you can spare a few minutes, I would really like to see more pics of your 2011 X5 50i M Sport (I have a 2012). Cheers!

I'm interested myself too, thanks.

Quick question: did you reuse the mounting nuts of the bumper core support for the Execuhitch or did you get new mounting nuts? Thanks!

I would not reuse those nuts, get new ones. The have to be torqued to a certain spec, and they have a built in lock washer.

Here are some pics of the Execuhitch on my 2012 BMW X5 50i with M Sport Package.

It's not visible unless you kneel and look under the vehicle:

The guys at Execuhitch are great by the way. Especially Daryl who really took the time making sure I was getting the right items for my specific model. I got the manual Execuhitch with the BMW wiring (from my friendly but expensive local BMW dealer) to take advantage of the advanced tow-friendly features built into the vehicle (such as Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and disabled warnings from the Park Distance Controller (PDC) whenever a trailer is plugged into the wiring harness).

I've spent hours looking for the perfect hitch and the Execuhitch is the best option I could find.

Hope this helps!
