iPod Help

I'm too lazy to search :blah:

Is there a certain cable I can buy that plugs into my iPod and the AUX jack that will allow me to control my iPod through my steering wheel buttons and display the songs on the screen and will charge the iPod?

I bought a cable that plugs into the earphone plug on the iPod, but I have to control everything on the actual iPod and the X5 is basically acting as speakers.

I had the DICE in my E53, so I'm pretty spoiled.

Not through the AUX jack, it is just an earphone jack. You need the 6FL USB integration option in the vehicle, which lets you control the iPod. It was a factory option. If you don't have it, it can't be retrofitted. I would need to check on the retrofit options.

Edit:

There is a BMW "iPod my BMW" option for retrofit. Not sure if the functionality is exactly the same as the factory install or not. Doesn't work with the CD changer, you have to disconnect the CD changer if you have one. EAS has it here:

Then there are various aftermarket solutions, DICE, etc. I am not sure who is winning the features race these days. Once I got the 6FL factory USB option, I didn't look back.

Good luck

Jeff

M-I considered doing this but it was around 900.00 to have the USB Port installed into the vehicle... :(

Michelle;

I bought the BMW iPod interface JCL referenced for the 5 series.
I installed myself and it still works great.
