Woo! My first X5!

Our approved used 2008 3.0d SE got delivered today! :D :D

It's got just under 60k miles on the clock, impeccable service history, one owner (customer of the dealership for ~20 years) and is loaded with goodies.

I spent a long time shopping around for just the right car at just the right price - wanting seven seats and a sunroof limited the number of cars on the market at any given time so when this one came on that ticked all the boxes, I moved fast.

The full spec is:

I really wanted the sunroof, third row seats, front heated seats, 20s and rear climate so I'm pretty happy. We often go places with some good friends who live in the same village as us, hence why I wanted the rear climate - they also loved the sunroof in our X3 before. We'll hardly ever use the third row seats but it's an option we wanted to have for the future and I imagine those few times when they're of use, they'll be invaluable

The previous owner also added in headrest screens and iPod/USB connectivity and there's even a PS2 in the boot. I didn't even know about this stuff until I saw the car in person so it's a nice little bonus. I wasn't looking for rear view entertainment.

I also got them to extend the standard 1 year warranty for BMW Approved Used to 2 years. Alas, we're not spoilt with the same warranties as you US folk get!

They're sending me a new rear boot BMW emblem because the existing one's got some chips on. It's also getting a new piece of trim for the front passenger glovebox because it won't open. It's on back order at the moment.

It's dark and raining outside so I can't take any photos myself right now but here are the dealer supplied ones:

Congrats. Did you notice your steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car?

Had a great day driving the car properly for the first time today - took the dog for a walk with some friends. They loved the rear climate (although I did notice that far more cooling goes to the rear than the front with it on). My fiancée had her first drive it too.

We tried out the third row seats in the evening too and they were surprisingly good. Obviously tall men can't fit in them (my 6" friend and I (I'm 6'2") struggled) but my fiancée and my friend's girlfriend loved them (apart from speed bumps). We also had a drive with the two girls in the third row with the middle seats down and with the headrest screen showing a film on. Silly but loooads of leg room!

We both love the HUD and it works really well with directions. However, the sat nav is (as expected) a bit pants and doesn't hold a candle to a cheap TomTom or the TomTom iPhone app. It chose a particularly bad route for the way back. I think it does use traffic updates but not very well. I need to get a new mount for my iPhone I think for any serious routes although I'll probably hold off until the iPhone 5 comes out.

One last thing, is the centre glove box chilled? It's always cold. I'm guessing it's the air going to the rear climate vents that are making it cold as a by product.
