I am in the same boat right now. Trying to decide whether to go with Bridgestone RunFlats again, or non-RFts. I have been reading as many threads as possible regarding members impressions about which tires are best for the E70, but the variety of opinions about certain brands, winter vs all-season, etc. makes it tough to choose. I will likely go with a dedicated winter tire (Pirelli Ice & Snow) non-rft this winter, and the Michelin Latitude Touring ZP Run Flats when spring rolls around. I only have about 24,000 mile on my oem Bridgestones, but slipping on ice last Spring scared me into going with dedicated new tires as soon as the temperatures drop.

I replace my tires when they get worn to near the 'wear bars'.
I replace my m'cycle tires sooner.

I would suspect many of the readers/posters get varied mileage, but yours at ~36k miles may, or may not be ready for replacement.

I replace tires when they wear out. generally.

If you don't know what wear bars are...and you cannot figure out the whole "google" thing, take the car to a BMW dealer and ask them.

I was back visiting my parents in DC a couple weeks ago and rode in the X5 with the stock Bridgestone Dueler RFTs. Man, those things are now LOUD at 24.500km! I thought it was a pavement issue but even on fresh pavement at 80-100km/h (thank you VDOT) the white noise from the tires is awful. Totally ruins whatever I'm playing on the CD audio. Probably about 60-70% life, judging by a quick glance at them.

If I had to live with that truck......oh wait no I don't.

A wear bar is the thin, black rubber ridge on your tires between the tread blocks. When the tread wears down to these ridges, it's definitely time to replace.

I can't speak for the Bridgestone's but my Dunlop 20" RTFs are pretty quiet and I have about 50-60% left on them.

Look for the wear indicators on the tire. That will give you an idea. For me personally, if I am down to the wear indicators in the middle of summer (does not rain here in summer) I don't sweat it and may use the tires a bit longer. But in the winter rainy months I am more conservative and may even replace the tires a little bit before I hit the wear indicators as to avoid any hydroplaning. In the winter it's just not worth risking an accident and running on the tires when they are worn.
