TPMS on 2010 X5, pre-LCI
Does the 2010 X5 and earlier have the indirect TPMS or a direct system?
When I hit a pothole and blew out a tire, it chimed and told me which tire was low. However, when I recently checked my tire pressure, all 4 tires were equally low. They were down to like 20 psi or so, if I recall correctly. I was shocked the TPMS didn't notify me that the tires were all so low, which leads me to believe it still has the older system that uses the ABS sensors to calculate the rotational speed of the tires. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Thanks. |
I believe TPMS senses the drop in pressure compare to the established norm. So, if the tires were set at 20 psi less, it will not warn you.

Yes, but my tires were inflated to the correct 38psi before that. And the TPMS was reset at that time. Sometime later after the winter, I checked all the tires and they had all dropped down to around 20psi. I never reset the TPMS. So, shouldn't it have warned me that all 4 tires were low?
I guess I could deflate my tires now and drive around to test it out. :dunno: |
