Ordering 2012 X5 xDrive35i Premium

Got the initial build sheet from my lease broker today and they are ordering it through a dealer tomorrow...so excited can't wait to get this thing.

Has anyone ordered fresh and tracked the progress throughout the build? How long should I realistically expect to wait for this thing? Guy told me around 3 weeks but I was wondering if anyone had anything more precise from their own experience.

Going with the Sapphire Black/Black Perforated Leather, Dark Bamboo Wood, Convenience Package, Active Seat Package, 3rd Row Seat, Running Boards, and BMW Apps.

I had a 2001 3.0 and a 2006 4.4...its been a few years since I had one and I miss it so much!

It depends on what is already in the pipeline, but I ordered mine mid September, and my build week is the first week in November. 3 weeks may be overly optimistic.

I have a Production Number and the Order Status on the Vehicle Inquiry Report says: 112 - Scheduled for daily.

I tracked it online and it says "Your order is in the system and on its way to production."

Not sure what to make of all this though.

Ask the broker what your build week is. That should give you a better idea of when the car will enter production. It can sit in the "order in the system" status for several weeks. Week 44 is the first week of Nov for reference.

I definitely will ask tomorrow. When I spoke to him Friday the dealer told him 3 weeks from the date that we had ordered it. That seems too fast to be true though.

Congrats! The exact date depends on where you are. For the upper east coast I'm guessing 3 weeks is about right. I custom ordered and it took 3 weeks for the car to be assembled and delivered to the west coast. But the important date is not how long manufacturing and delivery takes. The important thing is to ask when your production slot is. I ordered my car in early April but my dealers next production slot wasn't until mid May. So that is when the car began production and was delivered to dealer in early June. Once my X5 was in production I was able to see the build options I ordered except for the space-saver spare. I called up my CA and had him verify that the car was ordered with the proper options. It turned out that the order was correct and it's just BMW's web site that sucks. Apparently the 1-800 number is more up to date. It's just the customer service number on the BMWUSA website. If you are going through a broker, having him double check the order is not a bad idea though as there have been cases where the dealer entered the order incorrectly.

+1 re: the BMW web site sucks. I wasted too much time logging on to find no meaningful updates.

Funny you use Week 44 as your example because I just spoke to the dealer and he told me that the production week is Week 44. He said I should expect to take delivery of it during the week of Nov 14.

Placed order yesterday & I'm confirmed week 44 for me too, though I've got to wait on it being shipped across the pond. So you'll beat me by a whole month;)

Good news for the week 44 folks. My vehicle which was slated for week 44 has entered production and is currently being painted.
