Machine shop for boring wheels in Northern VA

Does anyone know of a good machine shop for boring wheels in Northern Virginia? I have two wheels that I need to have bore from 72.5mm to 74mm so it can fit my car. Thank you.

I'm located in the Lehigh Valley, PA and used a local machine shop to do exactly that ... they bored out my OEM style 87 wheels from 72.56mm to 74.1mm. They did a perfect job, right on the money, within 0.001" tolerance! PM me for contact information.

How much did they charge you for the work?

As soon as posted my response, I started looking for this info, because I realized that would be your next question ...but I can't find the invoice. It may be that I paid in cash, but I remember it being around $40 a wheel. I remember deciding that was a good price, compared to the alternative solution being to go with H&R wheel spacers/adapters for $150/pair and possible vibration ...

If you like to have flexibility and more possibilities go with the H&R Trac Adaptors. I got them from Turner. They give them a lot of credibility and H&R guaranteed no vibration or your money back. They are exact, hubcentric, and machined. I've used both the normal spacers and the adapters from H&R and they have been nothing short of great. They come with the appropriate lugs too.

Unless you plan to keep these wheels on your car for a very long time, it would make more sense to make a "fitment expense" once and be able to switch back and forth at will.

Wow... That is really cheap. I called a place in my area and they wanted $700 for 2 wheels. I guess I have to keep looking. Thanks alot for the info. That helps alot.

I called them and they said they don't carry adaptors for the X5. The adapters they have is only for the e39.

Sorry... That was with ECS Tuning. I will give turner a call on Monday. Hopefully - they still carry it for the X5.

I am still desperately looking for a machine shop in the Northern Virginia area that could provide wheel boring service for my X6 wheels. I need to go from 72.5mm to 74.1mm. Thanks everyone.

You decided against the H&R Trac adaptors?
