Proclip for iPhone mount

Hi there!

Is somebody using the Brodit Proclip? And if so, which one?
There are three versions out ...
I am looking at those close to the vents ...
Either this angled one Amazon.com: Brodit ProClip BMW X5 (2007-) X6 (2009-) #854008: Electronics
Or this straight one Amazon.com: Brodit ProClip BMW X5 and X6 center #854007: Electronics

Any thoughts?!?

I like to have my iPhone visible for different apps ...

Thanks!

I am interested in what folk are doing with their iPhone 4S in terms of being able to see it during a long trip. I wasn't interested in doing this until Escort came out with its LIVE smartcord but now that it is on order I need a solution.

There is also a possibility that V1 will release ESP and/or Savvy which may require yet another mount for my SO's iPhone 4 during the long trips.

Smartcord sounds interesting does anyone have it?

It seems that until you have a large user base it will not be that useful?

LIVE for iPhone will be available at an unknown date this month perhaps linked to that conference in Las Vegas this month (SEMA 2011).

There are several threads on the Escort Forum, Radar Detector & Laser Jammer Forums plus Radar Roy's forum. I don't know if I am allowed to put links but there are several that are active.

I just realized that there is a second part called a "device holder" so where is that on their web?

Update: I suppose it is this: ProClip Other Holders - Regular Adjustable Holder with Tilt Swivel for wider devices with or without a skin*-*ProClip Car Mounts for Mobile Phones, GPS, and Handheld Devices

Besides the base from Brodit I am contemplating their passive mount
Passive holder with tilt swivel*For a more secure upright and horizontal position. Padded.*Apple*iPhone 4*511170*|*Brodit

If you go to their site they have also active ones w/ cig lighter or permanent install ...
I thing of a passive one, because I do not wanna have the cable issue ...

Is this the USA equivalent?

Apple iPhone 4 / 4S used with a Case - Adjustable Holder with Tilt Swivel and Pass-Through Connector for Cable Attachment*-*ProClip Car Mounts for Mobile Phones, GPS, and Handheld Devices

If so, I am more drawn to Apple iPhone 4 / 4S used with a Case - Adjustable Holder with Tilt Swivel*-*ProClip Car Mounts for Mobile Phones, GPS, and Handheld Devices

I do not know how proclipusa and Brodit.com are related ... But the later one appears to me as the original us outlet of that company ...

However, the passive pass thru seems interesting as well ...

Update: I have ordered the following:

ProClip Center Mount
2007-2012 BMW X5-series 854007

Padded Holder with Tilt Swivel and Pass-Through Connector with Horizontal support
Apple iPhone 4 / 4S WITHOUT Cases516170

Once I received and installed it, I will provide some pictures ...

I'm using the straight mount and an active iPhone cradle - loving every minute!

I've installed separate extension cables, for both USB and audio, and connected the BMW y-cable straight to the cradle - works perfectly.

The kit is not cheap, however worth every penny IMO.
