Damaged Spoiler
OK, the "end" of a really bad week culminated in me backing into the garage door just before it was clear. (yes, I feel sick I'm so stupid)
It is a fairly uncomplicated part. Tischer lists it for about $380. I assume, however, that it will have to be painted, and there is a cable of some sort that disappears into the tailgate (a fairly substantial cable) and a little ribbon cable that little elves or something are required to reconnect (for the brake light, I assume). There are lots of grommets and bushings and things, however, and zip ties. Yes, it looks to ACTUALLY be held in place with zip ties into the molded plastic of the part (and it's those plastic parts that sheared away). There is no way I can do this myself, but the big question.. Will the dealer even, well, deal with it? I assume not, but it looks like it might be prone to water, etc. so of course I want it done "right." (and someone to blame if it's not) Or a body shop? There is a Tru2Form that has always done good work every time I smashed up a Lexus. Any advice? |
Hey, paint happens....
If it needs paint, that is a body shop item. Some dealers have body shop facilities on premises- sometime part of the dealership but often times independent. I would go with the best shop I could find...BMW paint is pretty crappy, so the concept of "i want the best so the dealer is best" can be flawed. Good news is you cannot really see that panel, so likely no need to color match/blend. $800-1000 job by the time you are done. Bummer A |
