Windows accidently open

well, this morning, after heavy rain last night, my front windows were half opened, and the back a bit less, all leathers are soaked wet...now drying the car....car was locked,

I locked the car as I usually do and put the key away on a shelf....

Its my third X5 since my 2001, and it happened before on my 2007

dealer said there is no reported problem of that nature, and blame it on my accidental pressing on the key..thats supposed to open windows...

first...does this happened to you?
second, do you have a trick to dry the leather without damaging it and keep its look?

thks

It has happened to me several times. Luckily never during a rain. When parking the car X5 for the night I now immediately take my key out of my pocket and put them on the bathroom counter. It has not happened to me since I have been doing that.

It's happened to me before. Once I was catching for my daughter who was practicing her pitching. I squatted down and all the windows opened up. Another time I was carrying a package as I held it against my legs, and the same thing happened.

I get it too

just another fault to log in the BMW exit statement when I flick my X5 for quality ...

I have heard of some BMW's with comfort access doing this when it rains. That is why I did not opt for CA when I ordered my X

Sorry to hear of this...the multiple reports here from others (which I recalled reading over the years) was one of my major gripes with CA. Unfortunately I am stuck with it as it is now a standard feature with a pkg I ordered...fortunately the car generally is in a garage.

I am particularly disgusted with BMW blaming the owners...

I'd make BMW fix it, replace the interior, etc

good news, they found a defective hatch mechanism that was sending wrong message....could be caused by heavy rain as water gets into door...they have replaced it
at least, thats what I am told!!!!!

YES- what about the leather, the wet carpet padding, the mold, the decay, the hidden damage....

The entire interior might need replacing at a cost of $$thousands

I will be picking up the car today...I need to see if they will do something, if they took the parts apart to dry them ....another battle!!!

If the interior of the car, seat, carpets were soaked, I WOULD NOT PICK UP THE CAR.

It is very good that they found an issue, and have gone on the record with a repair.... did your work order state "windows rolled down by themselves, interior water logged" or similar? There are two elements you want to establish- the windows rolled down and the car was at fault...AND that the car was waterlogged.

When you pick up the car, you want to have them specifically document what they did to address the latter issue...just running a fan will NOT do it. Once water is in the carpets the interior must come apart. Furthermore, issues that result may take weeks/months/years...AND the dealer can absolutely deny that these issues are the result of this singular event. You need to get it fully repaired now.

work order is well described
the car was not soaked
don't forget, here in Montreal, we get snow and rain...a lot, and the carpet was nowhere soaked like it is in the season
and the surface of the seats had been dryed carefully by yours truly...
overall I am sure it is OK....they took the two doors interior apart and no water or moisture remained
I am glad they did not try to pit the blame on me.....

I also got the back door adjusted, no more clunking disturbing loose noise....
