2008 E70 transmision fluid leak
I have a 2008 E70 3.0i that I've owned for about a year. The car developed a leak in the transmission, and as soon as I noticed I called the dealer to fix.
I picked up the car today - they replaced the transmission sealing sleeve, pan gasket, pan plug and topped off the transmission with a quart of fluid. I've seen lots of threads on this board about not messing with the trans fluid, and warnings that you can actually cause issues by doing this. Am I at any danger of developing bigger trans issues down the road due to having this leak and the resulting repair? Thanks for any input you can provide. |
Not unless they didn't fill it using the correct method. The car has to be running, gears engaged one by one as the transmission is filled quickly before it gets too warm. If the level is too low, I believe it makes a whining type noise.

Thanks - I'll assume since this was done at the dealer that they knew what they were doing.

Curious to see how many others have had to replace the Mechatronics Sealing seal. I just had mine done this week as well, 08 with 52k.

The Independent that I generally take the car to told me it's a common issue.

New fluid isn't lethal. It just isn't necessarily better than seasoned fluid. Especially when you add in all those detergent additives. But you know that, you are just trying to stir it up again. Having a bad day? |
