Looking at two different oem rubber mats. Which one to purchase?

Home Page > ES#196804 Rubber Floor Mats - Front, Beige - 82550417968 (Much more common one)

Home Page > ES#120764 E70/71 X5./X6 Rubber Floor Mats - Front (Savanah Beige) - 51470416692 (Have not seen a picture of this mat in a car yet)

First, if you have either one in your car, please post a picture. I would truly appreciate it.

Second, can these lay right over the current carpet mat or would I have to actually take out the carpet mat to use these?

Again, if you could please help me with some personal pics, I would appreaicte that.

I had to make same decision - went with option A above. I think that option B is actually more attractive *when clean*. Option A looks decent when dirty to me - have them in 2 other BMWs.

Remove carpeted mats, then put these down - do not lay them over.

No pics - don't have car yet ; )

Good luck.

Get the first one.

My dad purchased the second one for the 325i and they're not as versatile, nor hold as much mud/crud as the first one, which I still have on the X3.

ALWAYS remove the carpeted mat, and install the rubber floor-mat specific hooks (should be provided) so that the floor mat doesn't slip forward.

I'll try and get a picture of B up for you by tomorrow. I had A in my old 3series, but prefer the look and feel of B.

I have Option A also, and believe they are superior to Option B. If you have a sand beige interior, might I suggest that you consider getting the black rubber mats? I did this in my old 330i and they were much easier to keep clean, and provided a nice contrast with the carpet. Seeing as there is a lot of black plastic in the car, it actually looks quite good.

Do they make a mount for the 'A mats' that goes through the mounting hole in the mat that has the screw in anchor (as shown on the second ones)?????

Matt_UKTX 12-16-2011 03:03 AM

Yes, it comes with the hooks that screw into the carpet.

Why don't you consider a floor liner?

Get option A. Fitting is Really bad with Option B.

smart option, the beige in my 328i looked dirty after a couple days of being cleaned.

I have beige leather seats and carpet. But, I was really considering purchasing black for the contrast.

Anyone have the black version of option A that I posted in their tan interior X5? If so, please post a pic as I would like to purchase them very soon. But, I want to make sure the black good good with the tan.

No pics, but I had that exact combo and it looked fantastic. Go for it.

What's the difference between floor liner and the rubber floor mats? I was looking to get some Weather Tech mats for my car. Thanks.

is300e30 12-19-2011 11:44 AM

Thanks everyone.

I decided to get option "A" the all rubber ones. I got them in black, even though my whole interior is beige (seats, floor) I hope the contrast combo looks good. I am not at home, but I sure hope it looks good.

Quick question: Why is it not a good idea to lay these over the carpet mats that came with the car? Is there a reason that I need to remove the carpet mats and lay these rubber ones directly on the carpet themselves?

You don't want them to slide around, also the increased height could potentially interfere with the gas pedal.

Trust me - you want to remove the carpet mats. It will look really tacky if you don't, plus it is a potental safety hazard.

I have had all three styles in my X5's and personally, if you want to limit the amount of weather damage to your interior, get the Weather Liners and not the winter mats. I have got rid of the rubber mats in both of my cars and installed liners.

Matt_UKTX 12-20-2011 11:07 AM

I agree that from a protection standpoint, the liners are best. From what I can tell, the BMW liners are basically branded WeatherTech liners. Good quality.

However, costmetically, I'd say the black rubber mats look best. They offer a decent amount of protection too, if you're in a mild climate. In Chicago or NY, I'd go with the liners. In NC, TX or anywhere in the South, the mats should be fine.

is300e30 12-20-2011 01:23 PM

Yeah I live in Western North Carolina. It snows, but it isn't horrible like Chicago or NY.

Hopefully the black rubber mats will give enough protection of my beige carpet as thats the main reason of the rubber mats is to protect the the carpet from being stained.

m3the01 12-20-2011 01:55 PM

Where is the cheapest place to get the weathetech liners?
