Hit and run!

I came out of Whole Foods yesterday to find someone gave me an early Christmas gift! No note, cameras, witnesses or security. :dunno:

My prelim. estimate is around 6K. There's some internal damage too that drove up the bill.

I plan on bringing it to C&D in South Hackensack NJ (BMW NA uses them) - the best in New Jersey

Just thought I would share.

Happy Holidays!

ECS Tuning 12-16-2011 01:27 PM

ouch! That's guy needs a lesson in gift giving! It's suppose to be something you want, not something you never want to have happen!

FSETH 12-16-2011 02:12 PM

I hate that for you. People that do this kind of stuff need to be stoned in public, imo.

Happened to me a few years back. Luckily my insurance paid for 100% of it with no deductible. Hopefully, yours is doing the same.

300hp 12-16-2011 02:45 PM

Wow, that just sucks. I used to be anal about parking my car as far away from everyone as possible, now I am going to be even more anal. Such disrespect for other people's property is just wrong:(

DSB'12X5 12-16-2011 04:41 PM

no matter how anal you are, if there is an idiot in the lot, he will find you.
Last week I went shopping and I parked in the side of the lot where there were 10 car spaces available on four different directions, I come back and find an idiot with a minivan parked right next to me, so close that I had to move my X5 up so my wife and son could get in. I don't understand why, I thought maybe he wanted to jack it up or do something as the idiot was still in the van talking on the phone.

So, no matter what you do, if it's your "lucky day" it will find you. Once they scraped both sides of my rear bumpers in my old vehicle, I have no clue how they did both sides, but they did it.

:iagree:I'd be standing beside you with a wheelbarrow full of rocks.

We've all experienced it or know someone who's experienced it. It's happened to every vehicle I've ever owned. These idiots have no conscience.

Naz24 12-16-2011 05:29 PM

Oh boy id be pissed.

Good choice with C&D. Matt casiano there is a genius at body work!

Ps happened to me also. Dining hall employee at my school knocked into the side of my car.. Luckily I was able to find the mother-f-er. ( lawsuit threatening notes work well :) )

ard 12-17-2011 12:20 AM

Horrible.

Looks like a pickup/suv, maybe a receiver hitch?

Stevev 12-17-2011 12:51 AM

That is really suckz...I feel your pain. Last October, my X5 car was parked at the parking lot. One un-documented driver lost controlled and slammed his ugly and old ass Nissan Sentra into my front driver side. He ran away while I was on the phone with the emergency operator. My car was end up in the shop for little over a month for "medical mechanical" treatment. The bad part is that it going to show on the Carfax.

LeMansX5 12-17-2011 01:55 AM

That sucks. New rear bumper and probably lower hatch seem to be the major items. Good luck with repairs.

jayjay_dee 12-19-2011 06:10 PM

well, I might see you at C&D this week, not sure when I will be there thou...

2 weeks ago while making a right turn, somebody hit me from behind, not as bad as yours thou... we both got off our cars and he confronted me saying i was trying to make a right turn from the middle of 3 lane road, which is a total BS, he checked my car then went back to his car and sped away, everything happened so fast, good thing i was able to get his tag, NY plate F*R 20*6... got a copy of the police report 2 days later, stating he left the scene.

The same day, I filed a claim on his insurace (StateFarm), then last Friday they called me back saying the driver is denying he was there at the accident. Fool...

I got an advise from a cop that I can file charges...

Sorry for the hijack Trainer...

TRAINER 12-20-2011 07:14 PM

Yeah, this does totally suck and thanks everyone for the replies. I have an appt. on Jan 3rd, then the dance starts with the insurance company, fun fun. Mat at C&D can handle himself so I'm sure it will be fine.
@JayJay - If you want an appt. with them then you need to reach out sooner than later - they're quite busy and with the holidays coming up it screwes things up.

MINIz guy 12-20-2011 07:29 PM

Lots of cars at C&D now! My dad's E46 is there too. Dropped it off last week.

dbox 12-21-2011 03:34 PM

Bastards!

Sorry bro...

EVBear 12-22-2011 09:50 PM

No matter how hard the shop tries it will never be the same. I have had both the front and back bumper hit with no notes. Death by bunga bunga. I feel your pain

TRAINER 01-04-2012 10:29 AM

I dropped my X off yesterday. Hopefully I'll get her back sooner than later - within 2 weeks.

Rear bumper removed exposing the internal damage (can't be seen from this shot). Not so bad really. Should have her back mid next week. As a side note, C & D is the cleanest body shop I've ever seen!

southwold 01-08-2012 05:35 AM

hey, I have hear of the latest on board driving recording with camera that is capable of start recording upon detection of of an impact....

ard 01-08-2012 02:25 PM

^^Actually it is running and recording all the time, but you can set it so it only stores the data from a few minutes PRIOR to the impact.

I'd like that to protect me, but that is balanced by not wanting a recording of my driving in the event that...... well..... lets just say I can see a downside too.

Naz24 01-08-2012 03:39 PM

C&D is very clean. If you ask, Matt is glad to give you a tour.

TRAINER 01-08-2012 05:34 PM

I know Matt, I've seen the inside of his entire facility before. Impressive.

jayjay_dee 01-10-2012 01:37 PM

Impressive indeed... I was just there 2 weeks ago to get an estimate, unfortunately i have to wait til April 27 and hopefully get the judge's decision (small claims court)... yikes!!!

Let us know what the final bill is. Somehow I doubt it will be only 6K at C&D.
