With a 2012 X5, you get the full color HUD, which is nice.

I have a 2011 with the four-color HUD, but..
It is EASILY my favorite feature.

You get speed, NAV directions, check control, cruise control and relative distance for the radar cruise control.

The photo is of the newest system - this is not what I get. Mine is a bit more basic (no speed limit info because this is America and turn info, not the lane info as shown), but it's perfectly adequate even for "complex" navigation.

Beg your pardon. I read it on Autoblog when the 2012 model was formally announced. I have not seen a 2012 model with a HUD myself.
