Hi guys!

Been lurking around the forum for some time now. Just purchased a 2011 X5 35D - can't wait till it gets here!

Just wanted to see if I got a decent deal:

Sparkling Bronze/Black Nevada perforated
$50,000 (MSRP was $73,675)
23,500 mil
Excellent condition, spotless.
Premium sound, Cold weather, Sports, Premium and Tech packages.
Basically all the options that are available with exception of 3rd raw seat.
20" wheels with new Dunlop sportmaxx

Thanks guys!
Will need some Coding soon..... ;)

Good price. Car should have sold for ~64k when new, so you got 14k off for 23k miles and a year older....

Looks like you got Adaptive Drive- good choice.

Your "cant wait till it gets here" is curious....Did you buy it without any inspections or personal test drives? Any idea if it might have been in an accident, a buyback, etc??????

Thanks.

I bought at a dealer auction, ove/manheim. Negotiated a bit. One of my acquaintances is a dealer and he usually buys the cars for me (bought my last 4 cars, this is the 5th).

The car now has to ship to Manheim for inspection and then to me.

I am a bit worried about the 20" and NYC roads...on my last car, the 07 GS350, I had more trouble with low profile tires then I cared for.

Clean title?

My lemon sold at dealer auction for under 40k, last year - 2010 with 32k miles.

Why was this car at auction??? That is what surprises me- a 2011 diesel is a hot commodity, and should easily sell at retail- unless something is up with its. I assume you checked the VIN with BMW, and autocheck etc...

After I am getting a car it will go straight to the BMW dealership for a complete checkup. My dealer usually check for more evident problems, he knows his cars well. There is also a return policy at the auction. I should be fine.

There are actually about 15-20 diesels (2011) on sale at any given time across the country via Manheim. So they are rare, but are available with some wait, but of course with the right configuration is not easy to find. I have been looking for mine for over 6 weeks now.

Sorry to hear you got a Lemon :( ... what was wrong with it?

You've never answered the question about the title....

If you search for the work 'lemon' under my user name you will find more than you need to know. BMW paid me ~$62k, then sold it in a private 'dealer only' auction for a ~$22-24k loss. Somebody then paid $47 to buy it with a branded title. Prolly a fine car for someone that will drive it into the ground (or ship it OUS... ;) )

I still do not understand how diesels get to manhiem, given the brisk retail market. I suppose maybe they are traded to non-BMW dealers? I've got to think a BMW dealer could have CPOd that car and sold it for 52k. Instead of the (what?) 45 they cleared on your purchase

Finally, you know the Manheim return policy is very, very limited. Maybe you have a different arrangement with your selling dealer.

The seller claims "Clean Title". Based on ove terms, I can hold the seller to the description. ANYTHING that does not match is grounds for return.

As for diesels getting to Manheim, well, the most likely scenario is they are being traded in for other cars through non-BMW dealers. A good deal of them are being sold by BMW Finance as well.

My car comes from a dealer in CT that is a non-BMW dealer.

BTW - they clear up more then 45. The sell fee at the OVE is about $400. Buy fee (my fee) is about $200. I could be wrong here, will ask my guy to confirm.

How much do you think BMW dealership could have got for this car retail?
