No hot cigarette lighter for battery charger?

Went to throw the bmw advanced battery charger on my x5 for a few days while I'm away and low and behold no hot cigarette lighter sockets. Wtf. 3 sockets on the car and I can't charge through any of them?

Only solution is to wire straight to the terminals?

No hot cig sockets. I'm using a pigtail connector that came with my NOCO G3500 charger. Connects easily to the jumper points under the hood. Once you have that in place, it is quite easy to connect/disconnect.

My '08 E320 Mercedes has a two position fuse. One position for switched, one position for constant. It was a simple matter of moving the fuse and I have a hot socket to use the cig adapter, which is very convenient. Wish there was such an easy solution for the X5.

Sounds like a fuse ...blown fuse will prevent power to reach the battery

No, not a fuse.

The sockets are designed to be dead when the vehicle is turned-off, i.e., you cannot charge the battery via the Cigar lighter sockets.
