Spark Plugs - E70 2008

Any idea what brand/type of plugs are on the 3.0si 2008 X5?
otherwise I will have to pop one out and check it...

Thanks in advance, and btw search function returned no viable results.

Pulled one out and it had the NGK PLZFR6A-11S

Now my dealer/parts store tells me they use the Bosch FR7NPP322. For no apparent reason BMW wants to use Bosch?

Is Bosch better or NGK? My feeling is to go with NGK.

I don't think it matters. BMW has more than one supplier, not unusual. They will both meet BMW's spec. I wouldn't mix them though, get a full set of the same.

Indeed, I never mix them. I am going with NGK since personal experience with them was good with my old E53. Thanks for your reply JCL

i'd go with the NGKs also. i know my indie swears by them in my E36 track rat.

what mileage are you at? any specific reason for changing them? my 4.8 is pushing 90K so i'm sure i'm due soon.

My mileage is at 75K, I pulled one out and they def seem worked up. I have a habit of replacing them by 80K. I will be replacing them with NGK only next weekend.

last question - what did you gap the plugs at? I know they say the plugs are pre-gapped, but i need to make sure they are... I am assuming 0.040?

thanks,

Leave the gap alone, it isnt adjustable. Trying to do so can break the insulator

I know, it just feels wrong. Bet you wish you could adjust the valves too. ;)
