No disrespect, but is that an OBC 'mpg' readout, or a tank refill, and arithmetic answer? Just curious...

Could be real hwy mpg, but even if it is, the diesel cost per gallon vs gas, is a real consideration in many parts of the country.

OBC "MPG" readout.

Here in San Diego, Diesel is currently roughly the same as Premium 91 octane ~$4.50/gal.

Averaging 22.4 in my 3.0si over the past 5 months. Aboout 70% highway driving.

I paid $4.27 a gallon here at the Tesoro station; for some reason Chevron and Shell are $4.39 a gallon for Diesel and Premium Unleaded is $4.01. I've done both the math of figuring it out and comparing to OBC and it's quite close to my manual calculations.

The spread between the cost of Premium and Diesel has narrowed here in Idaho as it was nearly .60 cents a gallon more for Diesel than gas prior to the big run up over the last few months.

It's only 6 cents difference now here in my area of Seattle.
Prior to the big price hike, disel used to cost up to 25 cents per gallon more than premium.

on my 2010 x5 d, best I could do from Chicago to St. Louis was 23-24mpg cruising around 75mph. :(

I am only paying $3.89 for diesel so I feel pretty lucky based on the other prices I am seeing on here.

Yeah, but how many passengers? Cargo/luggage, etc.? That makes a difference.
