BMW will introduce laser headlights with 2014 X5 or 2015 7-series. You probably saw them in latest Mission Impossible on i8
Xenon headlights will be old by then. ;):)

our cars will be old by then ...

Let us know how the install goes and take some pics too.

I finaly found some info and it looks good so far but I have to find a footwell module 3 to make it happen.
There is no need to remove the fender or the front bumper to swap the lights.
The headlights will be taken out by removing the wheel cover from inside the fender. I have to remove the wheel, remove the plastic rivet and I have access to all 3 headlight fasteners. :-)

As soon I have my footwell module I will make pictures and create an DIY including the coding part.

On the coding part, the footwell 3 unit need the VIN number (Tool32) and a blank flash to make it work.

^^ So you need an FRM 3, and need to code the vin. What about the wiring harness, is it the same?

I will know for sure next weekend when I receive the missing FRM3. I will wait till then but what I hear in the German forum it suppose to be the same.

There are no headlight removal instruction in this forum so I was hoping someone could help me out. Some post say you have to remove bumper and fender, other mention that this is not necessary. Some seller in Germany told me that this was done there 3 times and it basically plug and play except coding has to be done. Any insights?

Any updates on this?

Still waiting for my FRM3 before I start. Hope it will be here by the end of this week.

blue dragon 03-27-2012 09:34 AM
