2011 m sport pkg

Guys, just looking for some opinions about the 2011 x5 m sport package 50i.
Do you like the styling? M spt body kit, the badging, wheel options
How do you feel about the sticker price?
How does the twin turbo 4.4 motor perform?
I am looking at a alpine white/beige.
How do you m car purists' feel about the option.

If you are buying it then your opinion is the only one that matters.

But since you asked - styling is good, badging is irrelevant, don't like many of the wheels these days, pricing is low by world standards, engine performs brilliantly by many accounts, alpine white is great, beige shows too much dirt, and the so-called M purists don't like it but who cares, it isn't an M. They'll get over it.

my personal thoughts - surprised they have an m-sport option for non-Ms. Didn't they want to give exclusivity to those who spend extra on the Ms?

The exclusivity comes in the Motor and suspension. Not the body kit or m wheels, m steering wheel.

The M-sport packages provides a sportier look for otherwise bla executive rides. I always get the M-sport option with my 550. Not to fool people but because it looks much better. I did not get the M-sport option on the X5 because I didn't like the wheels, No heated steering wheel, and at the time, the hitch option was limited. Not to mention the issues with the paint chipping.

+1 for me as well on: paint chipping issue, don't like the wheel style and yeah beige is a nightmare to keep clean.

They want to make a profit off the far larger number of people who don't want to accept the compromises inherent in the M models.

I preferred my M Sport 535 over the M5, I wouldn't accept the V10 or the M transmission (no manual transmission available at the time). The suspension was tuned on that model, the aero body kit was better than the non-M sport version, and I liked the wheels.

I have an AW 50i M Sport and love it, especially with the Beige Nappa interior. It adds a nice agression to the look. I don't care for the 19s but I get a better ride over the 20s and don't loose much in handling if any.

Agree that pricing is low by world standard! I think m package is definitely a compromise between the real M and X5. It provides a combination of both.

I personally love the MSport. The fender flares appear to be wider too giving it a more aggressive look (didn't actually measure, just by eye balling with a MSport next to a regular Sport package).
