which would you chose (4.8i 09/10)

I'm not in a huge rush but I narrowed down basically what I want in my price range to 3 x5s all very similar. So this question is based more on reliability of 09/10 x5 4.8i's...

the first two are the same price, the 3rd is 4k cheaper.

1) Fully loaded 2009 x5 with 16 mnth warranty and 14,000 miles left.

2) Fully loaded 2010 x5 with everything but tech package. 21 mnth warranty and 13,000 miles left. (2 owner car)

3) Fully loaded 2009 x5 with 18 mnth warranty and 4,500 miles left. (I drive about 8k a year so effective warranty is probably 7 months or so)

If they are all relatively reliable after warranty then its not a huge deal and probably the 3rd would be the best deal... I only drive about 8k miles a year

thanks for any input :) I wanted a 2011 but realized that it probably is stretching what I want to spend. These years I can buy without guilt :D

Tough to say without more details on the various options. You've mentioned that one does not have tech package (which I view as a negative).

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can buy the "Extended Vehicle Protection" before the original warranty expires too. My 2008 X5 4.8i has required so little repair that I nearly didn't buy the extended warranty but decided to do it for peace of mind for at least another 3 years...

Need more info on packages on each, are they from a BMW dealer or not, do they have CPO or not, etc. I would be more concerned with the condition, options and where the car was driven (Rust Belt or mild climate) than how many miles are left on the warranty.

"full loaded" is a dumb term. Sales uses this, owners should not.

For example: Do ANY have Adaptive Drive?? This is a $3500 option. wouldn't you think this SINGLE option would be most important to knowin order to define the 'deal'?

List every BMW Option. By code. Not features, just 'sport', 'tech', etc,etc

Just me but a 2010 vehicle with 2 owners already is a red flag for me.

2010 will have the "new iDrive" !

jamie392 04-07-2012 11:40 PM

sorry I should have been more clear :) I actually meant fully loaded as fully loaded... they all have every option except the 2nd one which for some reason doesn't have the tech package. All of them are fully loaded and all have adaptive drive, active ventilated seats, sports pack, cold pack, premium pack, and premium sound pack...

The first two are both CPO from bmw dealer, the 3rd is from a porsche dealer and not cpo...

The cars I listed all have exactly the same options (except the one) so I was more just considering warranty and reliability. I guess with only 4k difference between a lower mileage w/cpo and higher mileage without it is probably a no brainer.

I'll wager there are options they don't have. Nappa leather on all of them?

Oh, wait- can't have nappa AND ventilated... hmm...but all 3rd row, right? All have spare tires? wait dang- no spare tire option if there is a third row

You do know AD was included in the 2009 Sports pack, but stand alone in 2010...

:)

But if the are identical (fully loaded or not), buy the 2nd with the CPO and 2010. Higher resale, even if YOU wont use it.

The newer idrive and newer camera on the '10 would do it for me. Everything else being equal.

2 Owners is a red flag to me also the most important thing to look at is what issues have been corrected. Are they reliable is extremely important
