X5 35d Purchase?
 

Looking at a 2009 X5 35d with a few miles on it (66,000) what should I be aware of? Is it a good purchase or should I keep in the gasoline side? This one is loaded up nice and enough ($38K). Looking at changing for a SAV that will go thru the snow. Thanks in advance!

One just came up with a 4.8 with all the great things on it for less money. Need some good guidence on the engines other than the great 3.0. I imagine the torque is amazing also..

considering that for $15k more you can get a brand new one with 4 years and 50k miles of warranty and free maintenance...I'd pass. Also 2010+ ones have the updated idrive which is much faster.

I agree with that, I guess I should have clarified my point.

What should the difference be between a new $60k (probably low $50's after rebates and negotiation) car with a warranty versus one that is 3+ years old with 66k miles and no factory warranty?

I think for me it would be more than $15k. Given my current driving style, I know I won't break that 50k miles in four years. Others might blow through that quickly and won't value it as highly, so getting used might be better for them.

I don't have access to galves right now, but I would check on there to see what they are selling for at auction and what type of discount would be expected for something with that many miles. I've found their numbers to be reasonable in the past.

Still have the 35d in my sights, it is a BMW Certified used one so hopefully the service thing is good till 100K. I just wonder if I should be looking at a Diesel or Gas one. I put on about 5k a year and it will be used mostly in the winter. I have a son going to college this year and dont think I can swing a new one at this time. The end of the month is coming so maybe they will swing a deal. Is there any issues in the 09 Diesel? Love the torque though... Like a Freight Train!

We recently bought a slightly used 35d and love it. We shopped '09 through new and bought an '11. It was a bit more than we wanted to spend but it was a good deal what we were looking for in terms of mileage, colors and equipment.

I LOVE the Sparkling Bronze/Oyster combo. I wanted that but at the time I bought mine couldn't find it - unless I ordered.
