Anyone replaced the door seals on their X?

I've got an '08 X5 that is just out of warranty. I got most all of the squeaks and rattles taken care of under warranty, but the door seal noise just popped up and is driving me insane. Every small bump makes a squeaking noise til it almost becomes constant.

Searched through the forum and found its a pretty common issue, but didn't see anyone that took care of it themselves. I called the dealer and they want $160 just for the driver door seal, and I imagine at least a half hour of labor. I'll bite the bullet if I have to, but am pretty handy with most vehicle maintenance and wondered if anyone knew where to source the parts? I tried a few sites but couldn't find anything.

Had the same problem, but have not changed out the door seals. For what it is worth, my creaking/squeaking went away once I switched from automated car wash service with wax to a handwash service without wax. Very frustrating problem, so interested to hear if replacing the seals fixes the issue for good.

Yes, very frustrating problem. Wax definitely makes it worse. I had read a post where someone said applying wax would help, but that just made the noise worse. Seems keeping them more lubricated helps. I tried applying a bit of grease as others had mentioned, which works, but only for a day or so before it is either absorbed or dissipates. I'm not really going to make applying lube to my door on a daily basis part of my morning routine.

I love the vehicle and would buy it again, but I'm amazed at the number of rattles BMW expects owners to put up with

What the dealer did to my car 2010 E60 535i ( still under warranty ) is apply some sort of clear tape on the door frame. This helped for a few months but the creaking sound returns so I gave up. The sound is more pronounced in the summer or when it is wet / humid outside.

During winter the sound goes away.

My 2008 535 had a creak in the driver's door weatherstrip in the first six months of ownership. I had tried a few things related to cleaning them, but not too seriously. It was persistent. At the next service I asked the dealer to handle it. They replaced all the door seals. They were very familiar with the problem. There may have been a campaign on my VIN, not sure. Problem never came back.

Same problem here... Gone in the winter, back during warm days. I just clean (both seals and frame), and lubricate seals using special lubricant for them. Works for a month or so.

I also found that lower windows just a bit make the creaking go away, but let's rain in and noise in ;)

same case with my 08 X5.
I just turn up the music! :)

I got an 08 a few months ago and I get so anal with noise. I thought moving to a BMW would have a lot less noise given that they are suppose to be more well built cars and solid. My trunk and trunk cover squeal so much and my vents, when the heat is on causes them to comprise an orchestra of squeaks. I am out of the "squeaks and rattle" warranty period but still have full warranty on the car.

I give up!
