Left Brake Lamp Malfunction!
1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone,
I need to pick your brain on this one. Just got the aforementioned warning on my 2008 X5 3.0si, and when I checked the brake lamps/bulbs, this is what I saw (pic below): the top housing is burnt. There's a crack in it as well with the burn marks. Now per the manual, the brake lamp is the middle socket (2nd from top in the pic), which I checked and bulb looks ok to me. However, the housing which shows burn signs is like fixed, it's not something that I could turn and open. So I am not sure what have had happened there. What is that socket? should I just change the brake lamp and test it out, or take it directly to the dealership and get it checked? and is that section/socket/piece covered in the BMW's extended/certified warranty (that's what I have currently on my X)? Thank you |
replace that tail lamp since it is damaged, if the other side is ok, you can replace the bulb holder wiring harness with an updated part then there is a updated software that is available to reduce the voltage to the rear light to prevent this from happening.
