Had my windshield replaced almost a year ago, with non-OEM. Actually, the manufacturer is the previous OEM for BMW.
Used dealer-recommended shop, around $900 quote, all paid by insurance. I don't get these "up to $450" windshield policies for an expensive vehicle like X5. |
windshield options
that seems to be the problem, my price range has been $398.xx to $1200 at the stealer, breakage was not my fault so I am not going to pay nor am I going through insurance, just trying to be a nice guy for the person who broke it and find a reasonable price. Looks like around $800-1000 is the normn for either OE or OEM glass.

Most policies say 'we will cover the value of your loss'...or 'the cost to repair the car with like kind and quality'.
They are saying $450 is the cost to repair this. Insurers try to control this cost by using the cheapest they can find...your task is to find evidence that what they are proposing is NOT 'like kind and quality'. nova- DO NOT say "oh the rain sensor doesnt work'...your insurer may actually refuse to repair it, as it was a result of the last repairs and NOT this one! |
