Recent "Stop sale" by BMW on certain X5s?

Hey guys...who is connected? I need to find out more about this "stop sale" by BMW that was issued on certain X5s. I don't know more than this: I'm supposed to be picking up my new X5 out of state on Monday. Its been sitting on their lot since it came in and I've heard nothing until about 2 hrs ago when the sales rep calls me and says he has bad news. He states that BMW has issued a "stop sale" on certain X5s, but that he doesn't have much more information than that. Well...I've got a lot of plans that revolve around this trip (coming from WI) and am looking to you all to try and learn anything I can about this situation.

Anyone got anything they can contribute??
Thanks in advance!

If a car is subject to a recall they cannot deliver it until after the recall is completed... dunno if that is your issue.

He has to have more information.... it isn't "BMWs" car, it is the property of the dealership, and hence if BMWNA is telling the dealer what they can do with their property there IS a (legal, contractual) reason.

Oh shoot, I recently placed an order that finished production on june4, and is now awaiting transport. Any idea if mine is going to be affected by this "stop sale."

This happens from time to time, a defective part is discovered and the cars have to wait to get repaired. I recall the early 6er were on lots waiting for a part at one time.

Still no specifics from BMW. All I know is that some vehicles were affected and others were not. I also know it has something to do with the steering mechanism and high speed turns. I'm on my way home to WI in a rental vehicle because they could not deliver my X5 until this is resolved. The dealership says they have very limited info at this point, but that they hope to have resolved in the next few days and will ship my vehicle to me when it is cleared up.

Thanks, please update this thread when you get more info.
