Hey everyone,

Looking into leasing a 2012 X5 Diesel
-SAV
-20's Y Spoke wheels
-Premium
-Soft close doors
-BMW Apps
Stickered MSRP at $65,095..

What are some of you paying monthly for this type of optioned X?

Are you guys leasing the X near invoice?

An online lease calculator can tell you what your monthly payments should be. You don't need to ask people for that.

You can find base MF rates online as well. 2012 BMW Lease Rates – June 2012 (note, they have 2013 X5s models posted, but not the diesel)

The only thing you should be asking others is what their average discount was when they purchased.

If you focus on monthly payments you lose. Get a good selling price, make sure you get the base MF rate, and good payments will follow. Don't do it the other way around.

PS - the MSRP on my 2012 X5 diesel was $64K and I paid $56K out the door (no other fees except lease acquisition)

Thanks JDD, I am going to look into that!! :)

PPS - even if people did give you monthly payment amounts, they wouldn't help you, only confuse you more :)

Some states tax the whole cap cost, some only tax the "financed" amount.
Some states require it in cash up front. Other states allow it to be rolled into the final selling price. Other states just assess it/collect it on the monthly payment.

If you want more help understanding leases, PM me and I'd be happy to spend 15 min on the phone with you.

Thanks JDD, I think I am starting to get it! Really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. The deal you got was spectacular.. is that for 12k miles a year?

I plugged in a few figures into an online lease calculator and got the amount for the X monthly.

I am going back and forth with a dealer to get the X as close to invoice as possible. So far its like $1000 above invoice + the $795 Acquisition fee. Going to send out a few more emails to other dealers and see if they can do better.

The MF is set in stone right or is it negotiable? Currently at .00185.

It was for 15K a year

The base MF is set in stone. What the dealer offers you is not set in stone. In fact dealers make a nice pile of money raising it on you. You need to make sure you get .00185, and not have it go up one tiny blip.

$1000 above invoice is too high. The E70 has been out for a LONG time, and a replacement is coming in 2014. You should get a better deal than that. I got 6.5% off MSRP (which is roughly $320 above invoice)

Also make sure they are giving you the $4,500 eco-credit on top of any other discounts. (when i bought it was only $3,500, so your final deal should be even better than mine)

And make sure they don't charge you stupid fees (doc fee, prep fee, i want a nice lunch fee, etc)

On a sticker of 65,095, with all discounts, you should be paying $56,363 + $725 lease fee = $57,088 Out the door. Again, no other fees etc. NO cap reduction, no MSD (unless you choose to lower your rate more)

willha418 06-11-2012 04:46 PM

So far my negotiations with another dealership has gotten me to $250 above invoice for $60,065 (Same options as above minus Soft Closing Doors) less the ECO credit of $4,500 = $55,565, then I tack on the $725 lease fee = $56,290 OTD.
