Rear seat entertainment system

8 Attachment(s)
I have bought a used X5 2009 model with below attached entertainment system installed.

I have found the part number (65 12 0 421 339) but can not figure out what is faulty? I have got no idea how to open the screens from the seats or find the wiring path to find the issue or may be resolve it. I have also found the below

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E7..._dvd_advanced/

How to troubleshoot this or which part to be replaced. I even prefer to remove the system and install a new one if this one cant be repaired.

Refer to attached pics.

Thanks in advance.

By "open" the sreen, I think you meant, you want to turn it on.
The system should have came with 2 remote controls, one remote for each screen. (even though you really only needed one).

The Infrared receiver is part of the screen, so point the remote at the screen.
1) Point the remote at the screen and turn on the Display Power button
2) Within 10 seconds (the sreen will count down), point at the screen again, and press the DVD player power button.

You should be able to figure out the rest.

Good Luck.

Unfortunately I did not receive any remote from the seller and now I can not approach him back as he left for vacations, I guess. Is there any other solution to switch it on?

Not that I am aware of. The remote looks like this

Does this look like the above or this is the correct part number?

Not sure why he's giving you links to these remotes, as this system is clearly AFTERMARKET and is not an OEM BMW setup. You should find out what company made it (or see if a local shop uses the same setup) and find a replacement remote, or ask what's wrong with it.

Some company was manufacturing it for BMW. There is another thread in the same forum with some details.

You can also see the bmw part number in one of the pictures above.

This one Hazee is showing is absolutely BMW made (I have the same one). They are just older. In mid 2009, BMW made a newer and better rear enterainment system. In all honestly, since we pretty much just use iPads, I plan to unmount mine and sell it/store it. There is nothing out on the market that can compete with somethign like an iPad. (not discouraging you, hazee)

Did you get this figured out or anyone get anymore info. I have the same exact set up. Just bought the truck. have both remotes, no power on either screen or dvd player. Please help.

@lirimb
I managed to order a remote from dealer and it works fine now.

If you have the remote then it should work. Make sure the batteries are new. Secondly you have to switch on the screen first with remote. Then switch on the dvd player by remote or by the power button below the dvd tray.
