Upgarding.. Is this a deal?

I am looking to trade in my 2001 x5 for something like this below.. With my trade in it makes it reasonable..

Since I am upgrading is there any common issues people can point out.

Thnaks

2008 BMW X5 4.8i $31,477

NAVIGATION, TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE, 3RD ROW SEATING, BACK UP CAMERA, TOW PACKAGE, PANORAMIC ROOF, SPORT, PREMIUM & COLD WEATHER PACKAGES. HEATED SEATS, HEATED STEERING WHEEL, PLUS RUNNING BOARDS & 20" WHEELS.

Are you comfortable buying/owning without a BMW backed warranty?

I'd want a cpo warranty, or a BMW gold or platinum warranty to go to 100k miles and as much time as I could get.

Make sure you do a PPI, no matter what/where you buy

What do you mean by PPI?

PrePurchase Inspection, by a knowledgeable BMW oriented independent mechanic...
ard is on the LeftCoast and probably sleeping. :)

And, none of us can really know if that car is a 'good deal' for you. Mileage? History? Dlr or used car lot? Warranty? Etc.

judjing by what you pay it seems they don't give you a lot for your 01 trade in.

Need more details like the KBB on your car, mileage on the new one, is it a CPO, etc.

sorry guys left out some key components

2008 BMW X5 4.8i $31,477 with 65K miles on

Also this is the price before trade in.. They are offering 5k for my 01 x5..

I believe it's a one owner with some wear and tear inside.. nothing major, but for example the the CCC screen is all scratched up, makes it hard to read in bright light.. and the left rear passenger window button is missing.( which they will fix)

Also if I go this route does anyone have any personal recommendations on Aftermarket warranties?

2008 Used BMW X5 4.8i at Elliott Bay Auto Brokers Serving Seattle, WA, IID 8186265

thanks

I'd pass on it. Way too many miles on it--did you have the service history pulled ?

For comparison:
A month ago I bought a 2010 X5 35d w/ premium, tech, and cold wx for $34,800 and 57k miles. It also has the top BMW extended warranty. Also came with brand new tires and an additional set of aftermarket wheels w/ new tires. I too have a 2002 x5 3.0 for sale privately. The seller was of no relation to me and a 10hr drive away.

paul1994 07-01-2012 08:56 PM

where do you live to get a deal like that? I have not seen anything like that in washington state..

chiefneil 07-01-2012 10:28 PM

I got 10k trade-in for my 2001 X5 3.0i last year. It had 100k miles on it.

I believe 5k is well below KBB. Do you have really high mileage or is it in bad condition?

paul1994 07-01-2012 10:58 PM

I would say it is in decent condition. not great but it is it in bad condition. it has about 125,000 miles on it.

And on my '01 3.0 about 1.5 years ago I got $13K from my insurance after it was totaled as that was the value of it--101K miles on it.

I've searched every website that sells cars for weeks and browsed every used 2009+ X5 in the US and never seen a deal like yours.

What websites are you using ? I just pulled up 15 used 2010+ 3.5d's that are under $38K on autotrader. And about 35 that are non-diesel.

wetzie 07-14-2012 12:22 AM

I just paid $32K for 2009 3.0 with Cold weather; rear heated seats; parking sensors; premium package; at 42000 miles. New tires and a clean history. I didn't brake the bank but it seems to be a fair deal.
