2003 X5 3.0 air conditioning not cooling
 

A/C on car just went hot. No cold air coming thru the vents at all.

Saw a couple threads that say just to recharge the system, dont know how effective that will be tho. There has to be a leak.

Has anybody had this resolved by going into the dealership?

Mine did this. It was an AC temp module. It it located right of center hump, under the glovebox. It cost me $50. For used part. It looks like a 2x1 inch box with a bunch of little rods on it

There is also one under center console to control the rear AC

Hard to say...there was no gradual diminution of performance? A leak could give you a gradual fail..

Can you read schematics? Pretty easy to troubleshoot using a voltmeter to see what is or is not coming on.

In general I take AC issues- once I verify basic functioning- to an Auto AC expert. Much cheaper than a BMW dealer, at least for checking operation, recharging, adding leak tracer, etc.
