Locking car with occupants and not setting off alarm
Does anyone know how to lock the doors with an occupant inside the car, and not have the alarm go off?
Not that I would leave anyone in the car for any extended period, but when I drop my kids off at school on a rainy day, I park in the lot, walk two of them to the waiting area before class starts (and still have visual contact with the third in the car), then head back to the car. Problem is, with my youngest one still in the car, the alarm ALWAYS goes off when I lock it (paranoid, don't want to leave him in there with car unlocked even though I can still see him). |
when you push the "lock" on the key, you double lock the car and set the motion detector. If you push the "lock" second time, (double push), you will double lock the doors and DEactivate the motion sensor.
Try it, and let us know if it works... |
That dbl push works on our E53...dunno about the newer E70s, but worth a try.

It works on my 12 35d and my wife's 335ic. Watch the red security light beneath the mirror - it will stay on when you click the button the second time.
Must have if you carry a friend of the 4-legged persuasion... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |
its supposed to work ... but its a PITA to get it to do so ... you have to pause the right amount of time between the 1st and 2nd push ... watch the red LED under the mirror, if it goes 'solid' (not blinking) you have deactivated the motion sensors ...
good luck! |

Thanks all. The key is most definitely the steady red versus the blinking red.
