Crash Camera
 

Installed a crash camera in my X5, its a DOD GSE550, has GPS, speed, time, 120deg angle, its also HD 1080.

Wired it into the top console and comes on when I start the car, has a 16gig mini SD but can take a 32gig.

Why?

I do a lot of city driving, the X5 is my DD, between people running red lights, running stop signs, not giving way on roundabouts, push bike riders & motorbikes cutting you off and people changing lanes without warning and predestrians "J" walking and finally buses just pulling out infront of you and trucks that have not cleaned there trays droping debris on the road and last but not least, idiots weaving in and the traffic that cause multiple pileups on the freeway and being pulled over by the Hwy Patrol asking why you did not see the 60klm speed sign hidden behind that tree?

PS. There's one more, 80 year old's driving at 80klm in the middle or right lane on a 110klm speed hwy!

PSS. There one more, its great to play back when you have your car serviced as it records voice as well?

So is the plan to submit the video to the police and file a complaint whenever those things happen?

Already have, wrote a letter to the Police Commissioner and they investigated and pulled the ticket.

Cool. If I had that setup I'd be at the police station every week.

I think its a great idea. I wish I had one. I recently had a psycho vandalise my car, while I was in it. He went on to vandalise others as we watched. Since missus was with, and wouldn't let me kick his ass, a video of the event wouldve been great for court (which is coming up soon)

I had a arguement with a Policemen a while back, then six months later he tried to book me, but I was one step ahead of him.

i've been done a bit research on this, have you considered blackvue? they are the most popular incar camera on the market, google it, plenty of reviews etc.

Have been thinking of installing a small USB Camera on the back window, there is the 12volts plug in power supply in the rear cargo hatch so it would be pretty easy.

Will check the Backvue camera out! the DOD camera is not bad for a couple hundred dollars, the position its in is just set and forget until you need the vision etc, then you just pull the mini SD card out.

Also I travel up to the beach house alot, (there is no road) and its very interesting to watch the vision back when its full tide and you rally for 14klms up the beach at 80kph.
