Advice
I am thinking of using Conti's DWS all weather on my 214's and running them for winter rather than using my 19's, with all seasons.
I am wondering if anyone has experience in the northern part of the US or Canada with running a 20 inch for the winter? Thanks for any advice! |
I ran that same tire on 3pc wheels on a 335i all winter long in the KY/OH area. No problems what so ever.

Is that an all wheel drive? I am curious if the width is going to snow plow or cut through the snow?

If this winter is anything like the last one, you will probably be fine. However, if there is a significant amount of deep or wet snow/ice, you will have some problems with stopping and turning. I ran the DWS all winter in PA, where things are more mild and they did OK. I did have a few white knuckle moments, and had to avoid some of more hilly areas. I bought dedicated snows for WI, though.

I'm not familiary with Appleton,WI but in the Chicagland area (burbs and city), most people get by with all-season tires. There are no mountains or hills to climb and most of the roads are plowed fairly quick.
If it's really bad, just go slower or stay home. |
