Ive recently noticed that the outside edge of my front 20" Bridgestones are worn down smooth, but still have alot of tread left on the rest of the tires. I usually run 32 front and back on my sport with AD and 20's. Bringing it in for an alignment tomorrow.

I am changing out my wheels for my winter setup...19" style 212 wheels. Should I get the alignment after I change to the 19s or does it not matter?? the SA told me to wait until I change over to the 19's :dunno:

It doesn't really matter. Whichever wheel you care the least about is the ones I'd have it aligned with. The reason I say that is depending on their alignment equipment there is a chance that the wheels could get marred\ scratched when putting on\off the alignment targets.(if the tech is sloppy)

Front 32psi, rear 32.5psi
Anything less u risk cracking your rims, anything more it gets harsher. I'm settled here for now.

FYI

You want to set the TOE close to the minimum of the BMW spec.... And you want symmetric settings.

BMW dealers usually just get it somewhere in their wide spe range...AND they'll try and talk you out of whatever you tell them. This is especially tre when the issue arises after its done and you look at the crappy numbers on the alignment sheet. They'll size you up and spin a story: "Oh the tech doesnt want any less ___ as that will hurt your turn in and handling" or "For safety BMW recommended ___" or "Ride comfort can be affected with ___"

Unless you have a BMW dealer that allows you to chat with the mechanic doing the work and can ensure he will set it where you want it, I recommend a tire/alignment store.

I'm with u on this. Just done my alignment yesterday from a reputed alignment shop in sydney. When I had a look at report it had a little more camber on one side and the guy said when I sit in the car that would compensate - ???
I tried to tell them where I want and that's the time they get angry at me. Can't win either way. This is my 3rd alignment attempt within 2 months as the previous shops didn't do a good job.

I usually sit with them and discuss the numbers- slip the guy doing it a $20 and they'll be real nice. After the car is done don't bother- it isnt fair to them. IMO
