Here's a picture of the rear suspension on a 2010 X5 4.8i. The question is: what is that thing inside the red circle welded to the rear shock absorber? This car has the S2VAA adaptive drive option:

I would assume it is some sort of valving to change the ride characteristics with adaptive drive.

Interesting ... however, I have not been able to find anything like it on REALOEM. It also sounds expensive ...

If it is 'welded' to the shock, it IS part of the shock- and will not show up as a part.
