Service advice

Bought 2011 last October.
Service screen says oil change will be due in December
Made appointment (didn't buy from this dealer).. Got there and service advisor
takes key fob for a bit and decides that it doesn't need service till Feb.
In the mean time I'm getting "service overdue" on startup and have gotten emails informing me that my car needs service.

Want to trust him but also want to keep up correct service for warranty issues.
Advice appreciated!

If your car says it needs Oil Service, the SA should get it serviced.

My X5, which hadn't been driven much, did not show due for an oil service but it was 13 months since the last one. I asked them for "Engine Oil Service" and they did it.

1. You WRITTEN agreement from BMW concerning the maintenance plan is inthe glove box. Read it. Find the part that says "we pay for services the cars CBS system indicates"

2. Show the dealer the display AND the text.

3, explain that the key fob is a convenience to him, but has no bearing on BMWs agreement to provide service

4. In fact, you want to add "key fob incorrect" to the list of warranty work to be performed

A

Do you have comfort access? Stick the key in the slot and drive for a day or two to have the key updated.

This.

I dropped mine off for service yesterday and the key had no info on it when read by the SA. He stuck the key in the slot in the car for a moment and then the key read correctly.

I reviewed all possible services with him and selected those that were due. It was a pretty open book discussion.

Bought it used with 3000 miles on it. Has comfort access. I've never put the fob in the slot so I can see how it may be off. I'll try using it for a while then be more informed when I speak to the SA.

What's with the "Dupe" reply???

Dupe means 'duplicate'... I posted, the browser locked. Looked like I didnt post, so posted again. When it reloaded there were two of my same posts so I edited one and replaced it with Dupe.
