Never before seen (spy) interior pics of all-new X5.
Hey guys I just came across these spy pics showing the interior of next gen. X5. It shows an integrated Nav screen into the dash board. I'm glad we don't get the double-hump dash of 3,5, and 7. Also shown are a couple more spy pics and they look quite good.

A couple of more up-close pics. Lots of camo here guys but we can see the headlight in detail and the tail lights look to be LED.
One of them shown w/o the roof rails. Didn't someone want to remove theirs? http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...tonX5/spy3.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...tonX5/spy2.jpg |

The X5 in these pics is very well disguised! I love the bonnet, though,!Its a world first ,those PDC sensors on the bonnet! Will be very useful when you are parking your 2007 X5 in your garage at the same time as your electric garage door is sliding down! :bustingup |
 very nice ... i like the interior layout too
|
That is very intersting indeed. I believe those pictures were taken in Bishop, CA. About 3 month ago I went fly fishing there, I arrived late on a Friday night, and when I checked in the hotel, the front desk clerk asked me if I was with BMW, probably because he saw my car (I had my Z4 parked in front of the entrance) and my foreign accent... I told him I wasn't (I know i should have say I was)...Next morning, I woke up very early, went down to get breakfast. The restaurant was full of BMW guys, mostly Germans. I knew something was going on, since there were a suspicious number of x5 parked outside, but I couldn't see any "new model"... small world.
|
I have seen the guy in blue X5. He is the same guy who was in those BMW Lemans blue 4.8 pics on the net. Hope these are not photochop. Style 168 4.8 wheels huh!
I posted the Hi-res pics of test mule a while ago. They were testing in California so the guys somewhereinla saw could be from that team. :dunno: |

The pic of blue X5 is a photochop. Here is the original. Check the look on guys face. Poor fellow is wearing the same shirt. Seems like they forgot about that. Also check the wheels, they are at the same spot.
|
I LOVE the photoshopped LeMans blue X5! If they'd produce that, with the front and rear stylings the photoshopped takes have shown, that would be perfect for me. I am not a fan of the X3/Z4 style taillights on the X5. With such a large rear end, the bigger the taillights, the better.

Photochop or not, thats bad a$$!!!

Breyton, seems like they are addressing the issue of not able to see nav in light. Good find! |
Thanks Breyton! Looks mighty interesting!!

I think the E53 looks a lot better. :(

Don't like that "falling" front. The rear is less bad. Mr. Bangle: please retire!! Regards |
If these pics are truely the new X5 then it only CEMENTS my desicion to wait for the new body style and lease this MDX for the short term...THAT LOOKS HOTTTTT!

It also looks like the back glass is far to slanted imo to fit a set of 3 row seats as has been rumored :dunno: . |

I like the ouside very much, especially from behind. However that in-dash nav has a really cheap-looking aftermarket look.
It looks like someone made a cheap new portion of the dashboard form fibreglass and simply cut a hole for the screen. I hope we can opt out of this "thing". |
Or 3rd ala Audi Q7

Methinks the Nav screen will still have a sunlight issue judging by the placement unless they have a pull out hood covering it.
Otherwise bitchin' Who needs a third row of seats! My parents always said that was the bus when we were growing up in poverty stricken England. The old Austin Healy could only haul four comfortably, the Anglia was a real step up though five at a squeeze, when we got the Mini Van (the original Mini with a Van body) we were saved, we got most of the football (soccer) team in that one:) That one had all the options the sliding window glass with the thumb locks was way ahead of its time. I'm now on my third X and still have not figured out all the knobs! |

In-fact almost his whole original design sketch prevailed, save the wheel that was attached to the back of the trunk RAV-4 style... SERIOUSLY ! People need to stop giving Bangle *** ! He has been with BMW for 10+ years, and is credited with 'conservative' designs such as the E46, E53 and it was under him that many of the 'conservative' BMW's came to be. If anyone should be taking the heat for the new-gen BMW's its Adrian von Hooydonk (6 & 7) and mr Warming (Z4)..! |
I like the blue one but I think the test car looks too much like a station wagon! Actually it reminds of that Chrysler Pacifica, eww!
I sold my Lexus RX because I felt like a "soccer mom" driving it and fell head over heals for the X5. It is sporty and sexy, I absolutely LOVE my X5 and the attention I get driving it. |

I too like Bangle's work. I always thought the previous Bimmers were cutting edge and modern, until Bangle's design. Now the older series look classic but definitely dated.
http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/1...5/000870-E.jpg I don't want my car to look like a Honda. Come on you don't like these design elements... http://homepage.mac.com/voyager/.Pic...3FE6CD11D7.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/voyager/.Pic...8EE6CD11D7.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/voyager/.Pic...FCE6CD11D7.jpg go Bangle go! |
it looks alright. probably take time to grow on me..
|
I personally like all the new BMWs that are out right now.. I think the 3 series E90 is the best looking one right now followed by the 6, 5, then 7. I cant wait to see the final ne X5. I never really liked the X3 but it is nice.
|
Very nice! I just can't wait any more!
|
I have to admit the Bangle work is growing on me too, but very slowly. I just love the look of our X5s as they are now and I also love the 2003 5 series...
|
I really like all of the current BMW's. It is by far the best looking and performing car line out there, imo. As far as Banglization? I think it's great. I can't wait to see what the new X5 will look like, the X6, and I really want to see the facelifted X3 (whenever that may be).
|
Bangle does have something to do with design of current X5.

Hey guys,
Those spy shots are great.! I didn't ready any comments on a couple of details I saw.... First, there is a decisive Start/Stop button on that dash! I'm also glad to see that the panorama roof is carrying to the next generation. I use mine every day. The one thing I couldn't tell is if we're getting a stick on the floor or a stub on the column (ala 7 series and now Mercedes ML). I know it's only my personal opinion, but I HATE those stubs! I looked at the photos posted on this thread and there seems to be what looks like a stub on the left side of the Nav close up. Nonetheless, I went to the photographer's website and he has another photo (IMG 1682) that seems to show a traditional stick. As for the nav, judging by that photo it's gonna be impossible to read the screen on a sunny day. Look at the image, there is glare all over it... :tsk: Finally, we need to consider that most manufacturers are consistent in the way they do things. So, go look at the 3 series spy shots and compare them to the final car. Judging by the spy photos, the car ended up looking nothing like what we saw in the test mules. So, I would venture to say that the cladding on the photos we saw is good camouflage. IMO, they give no indication of what the new X5 is really going to look like. Additionally, BMW is revolutionary and not evolutionary in it's designs. I can assure you the next gen X5 will look nothing like the current one (which is what the spy shots lead to believe). I think we're all in for a BIG surprise.... I LIKE SURPRISES! :) Jose |
Great they spoiled the interior. That ugly dash screen doesn't belong there - it looks like an after-thought. They should've made a second hump like they did on the 5 and 7.

@ josejb70 BMW is going to have to stick with the traditional center console mounted gear shift leaver to cater to the purists who want a manual. With a steering wheel mounted gear changer, there will be no way to implement a clutchless manual (well there will, but BMW isn't going to forgo the extra costs to make two center consoles). |
