Occasionally, my '08 wont open the lift gate with key in pocket. It usually happens when all doors were locked with inside button and drivers door was unlocked manually from the inside. It happens so infrequently, I have not bothered to figured out precisely why if previous description is not the cause.

After a set amount time of sleep (Coupla days iirc), the CA system will dumb down to only the drivers door until the car is woken. Rear sensor location: Exterior Aerial - rear bumper middle Next failure hold key there and try again? |
New symptom today - crackling noise through the speakers when I open the doors to get in. So it dawned on me there's an electrical issue and I check the trunk. Have standing water in the left well where the electronics are. A few threads have mentioned this is a sunroof drain issue - and I did leave the sunroof very slightly tilted open (thought it closed all the way using the fob (coded)). Think the tailgate issue happened before the sunroof being left open though. Anyway, now I'm wondering if leaving it open leads water directly back there or if it still should go through to the drain tubes and they're just clogged.
Also the trunk release did work, but randomly, without doing anything different. Things are definitely affected by the water. |

All water that gets past the sunroof glass falls into a tray of sorts and is channeled out and down. Of course with the glass open much more water gets in (and debris!). Any water that is causing your CA issue is going to be on the right side... under a plastic piece you must remove. |

It might be worth checking the cabling as outlined here:
