E70 steering wheel moaning

Anyone else getting a "moaning" sound when slowly turning the steering wheel at low speed?

(2010 x5d with 55k miles)

Happened with mine. Dealership just lubed it up and it hasn't come back in a year.

Any idea what they used? White lithium?

I had the same problem on my '09. Not sure what type of grease the dealer used to correct it.

This is a common issue in e36's. Both of my M3's had this and it turned out to be the slip ring. It was just dried up and squirting some silicon or teflon lube up there helped out. However, accessing it on an E70 is probably not the same as an E36.

They removed the steering wheel. I'm assuming that they lubed the column as well as the wheel itself. No real idea where, but it was a white silicon type lube.

there's a ring under the steering wheel that gets dry, you need to remove the wheel and silicon grease or spray there..

Anyone have a handy link for e70 steering wheel removal?

Where would you apply the lube for the telescopic steering slides?
