Should be fun. MD, you are sugarcoating it!
Here is a highway cam shot of Highway 97 today, near Dawson Creek. This is a few days drive south of the Yukon border. Let us know how it goes. |
I'm very jealous. Have fun out there and be safe!
Happy motoring! PS. When I posted a while back (about the windscreen protection film) I didn't think you were this serious about it! Are you doing this trip alone? Christ, I wish I would have known 3 or 4 months ago - one of the trips I've always wanted to do was to go up to Prudhoe Bay in the X5. I would have loved to meet up with you in Oregon and do an X5 tandem all the way up and back!!! |
Dawson Creek is getting pounded with snow right now. But at least it is staying well below freezing so the hiways won't get too slippery when it thaws during the day and freezes again when the sun goes down is when things get scary.

Hi there -
I am staying for the night in Quesnel, BC, and should make it to Dawson Creek, BC, tomorrow, if the weather is on my side ... we will see ... :dunno: |
Just wanted to let you all know that I made it to Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, Canada without any issue in the X5.
Now, I just have to make the return ... Have you checked out my bloghttp://teffi71.blogspot.com/ or my facebook page called PO2BS yet? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pH-dtC1IR6...roAzul+039.jpg |
Congratulations! Looks like you have had great weather. I read your linked blog, and watched some of the videos. When you came through the tunnel into Vancouver, downtown at Coal Harbour (don't stop on the bike boxes or drive straight through the bike lane right turns next time.....), the Port Mann bridge, Hope, Dawson Creek, and Whitehorse, all very familiar territory.
Your better mileage when you crossed north of the border probably has more to do with the reduced ethanol in our gasoline. Good luck on the drive south. Hope that weather holds for you. |

Very cool blog!
The locals must think you look like an apparition, driving into towns. Good Luck on the rest of your trip! BR, mD |
