Programming recall

Brought my x5d in for its first service. SA said there were two recalls to be done. One on the pulley bolt which I received the letter on and one for a program update. Does anyone know what the program update is about? It is a 2012.

I had the same recalls done to my 35D. My service advisor told me the program update has do do with emissions.
