Headlight washer does not retract all the way

My headlight washers were activated the other day and did not retract all the way. They seem to have stopped just short and the cover did not close.

I searched the forum and found some issues with the cover popping off but did not see this issue. anyone hear of this happening and know if there is an easy fix or if it sounds like a full replacement is needed?

It is unsightly but frankly, I don't use the headlight washers all that much. Not sure if I should try and push them in with force.

Ask someone to use them while checking if it rubs against the bumper. If the bumper was slightly pushed, the washer may be misaligned against the opening.

How do you choose whether to use the headlight washers or not? They come on automatically on my vehicle when washing the window...

You can code them to be inactive

The washers only come on when your lights are on. I don't do a lot of night time driving and frankly don't use the wash that often. If I do, I also sometimes turn off the light so the wash doesn't activate.

why would you go out of your way not use them? just curious.

Sometimes you just want your windows cleaned and don't need the whole entire hood splashed with residue from the headlight washers. It sprays EVERYWHERE.

ah, well in Seattle its generally raining if I use them so it's already all wet.

I agree. But sometimes, when it's dark out and you're driving on the highway, shutting off your headlights isn't exactly an option.
