Recall on MY 2007 to 2010 X5s
BMW has issued a recall on certain versions of its X5 due to a potential problem with the luxury SUV’s brakes.
The recall only affects V-8 versions of the BMW X5 built from September 12, 2006, through to March 18, 2010. This includes X5s from the 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 model years. According to BMW, there are some 30,265 vehicles in the U.S. affected by the latest recall. The concern is that the brake vacuum pump on these models could leak a small amount of lubricating oil into the brake hose, which could result in a loss of power-assisted braking. Should this occur, the stopping distances required for a vehicle would most likely increase, leading to the possibility of a crash. BMW is in the process of notifying owners of the affected vehicles. They will be requested to take their SUVs to their nearest BMW dealership, which will replace the brake vacuum line with one that contains a check valve. No charge will be made for the service. For further information you can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 (reference recall campaign number 13V045000) or BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or at the email address [email protected] |
Thanks for the info!

hope they honor that in canada...

Pefect. I was in for oil service in January and the tech spotted that leak--I was going to bring it back in March since it's covered under CPO so I guess saves me the $50 charge on the CPO.

Glad this doesn't affect the 35d's. I was just in for a recall a month or two ago.

Does anyone know if they flush your brake fluid when they do the check valve recall?
