My First E70 "Mod" - Black Kidney Grill
 

I recently bought this X5 (my second one).

I love it in Alpine White. One thing I did not realize was the kidney grill was loose when I bought it and one day just popped out in my hand as I opened the hood for the car (clips were broken)

Instead of going to the stealership I bought a pair of all black matte ones on Amazon.

I was going to go with the OEM look but the grill lining was the ONLY thing chrome on my car. (minus the badges)... So i went with the all black.

I love it. Simple install clip in clip out.

Not sure how much Amazon was but I got my pair $100 to my door which I thought was pretty good. If you guys are interested...this is where I got mine.

And no extra costs upon delivery? IE: no hst?

Everything about the transaction was perfect, including the quality of the grills.

No, don't recall getting dinged for hst. Just signed for it.

I got mine done at the dealer before the car was even registered and licensed! Along with the full performance bodykit and interior bits ;)

Are these easy to install? I just picked my X up and haven't had a time to check the grills.

Any DIY?

I know my wife's E90 was a 5 minute job, hopefully the X is too. :)

It's very easy, just a couple clips to depress and push the grill out. I used my fingers to depress the clips, I think a couple yuppies posted they needed pliers to depress them :D

Yeah, 5 minutes a side

Almost the same as the E90. Just the clips. Nothing major to look out for.

Some guys have used plastidip to black out their OEM kidneys and if they don't like it anymore they just remove the rubberized material. It's easy to remove.

Hell people are plastidipping their wheels now too. Not sure about that. The grills I can see and its not permanent.

I like my chrome at the moment.
