Tips and tricks
I am mirroring off a thread on E53, which I benefit greatly by reading through them, thought to start one on the E70 plate forum. ( I did a search and there isn't one)
Anyhoo... I may have seen lots of people think the Bluetooth streaming music is impossible, after configuring on the idrive, which you can go cd multimedia, external device, the phone your blue tooth hooked up, takes a while to let the car configure. But, it will work! Make sure the Bluetooth audio is enable. Let me know if anyone needs help |
Doesn't it require Combox?

However, my X5 was packaged with, simple stuff, Pre Pkg, Sport Acitivity, 20" wheels, thats about it... |
I assume you guys are talking about the newer idrive (2010+)? I have the older version ('08) and it doesn't work even with bluetooth audio (not phone) selected. I'm relegated to using an audio cable through AUX. Either way, bluetooth or AUX it doesn't show a list on idrive right?

depending on your setup, you may have the smartphone integration built in... run your VIN through the bmwvin . com, and look to see what options were fitted from the factory - it is different from the option list you get from a dealer - they tell the new car sticker option packages, the website give you a complete breakdown of the factory workorder, including stupid details, like the gas fill-up full or half tank for some markets, or car wrapping for shipping... |
just to clarify, I do have BMW apps, and its 2013
however, my dealer told me the BMW apps are not the one doing all the works the BMW apps are to do the Facebook, twitter stuff...as I've told...:D |
have an 07 with almost all the bells and whistles and have been through the iDrive several times and bluetooth audio does not work for me either
tried a portable hard drives, don't work - haven't tried usb thumb drive yet as i have tons of movies and music on my hard drives and cannot fit them to a thumb drive, may for testing purposes put a couple songs or music video to usb thumb drive and see what happens tried playing music through ipod cable, doesn't recognize my iPhone 5 or wife's iPhone4 currently we are running audio from our phones with an AUX cable like most others |
Mine is '10, CIC nav, no combox and thus no bluetooth audio. If I am correct, bluetooth audio was introduced in late '10 or early '11 with introduction of combox. It also enables you to connect iPhone / ipod through USB dock cable. If you're before that production, you're stuck with BMW Y-adapter and no bluetooth audio.

my wife's E90 is '11 and she can play her pandora via BT through her dataplan...
check the VIN to see what she has - A920343, and see if you have the same... |

are you saying anything before 2010 has no BT? if so, my 2005 E53 X5 has them, picks up phone call just fine, can't play music via steaming ;) so, for the 2005 i bought a 3.5mm Aux kit BMW sells, for about $50, works ok... |
